What actually is meant by the term, "Viva Campus English"?
Good question. The situation is this. Our program was born in a totally non-English speaking environment where it was absolutely necessary to teach teachers who had little or no English language background or training to teach English. This began over twelve years ago in Taiwan, and we developed and perfected a methodology for bilingual language education which has proven very effective in conversational English, especially in pre-schools, kindergartens, elementary schools and institutes, and, for anyone who wants to study on his own. By our training methods these people developed into wonderful teachers and, in turn, taught the children. The methodology allows schools to conduct a bilingual language program with or without the use of credentialed English teachers. In fact, out of necessity, we have become experts in teaching non-English speaking teachers to learn our program in English and, in turn, teach it to children. The most successful teachers are those highly motivated people, with a desire to learn themselves, and they rank right along side those who have studied formally to become English teachers¡K In either case, exceptional achievement is the result of those using the Viva Campus English program. We estimate that it can create ten to twenty times the desired results over other English language programs, coupled with great savings in time, money and effort for schools, teachers and students. Our motto is "Excellence, not Perfection," which in itself removes the fear that most teachers have before being exposed to our method.

How can this be possible?
Easy. We have a series of sophisticated tools and simple training techniques, which include right brain-left brain understanding, common sense and a clear approach to language learning. It is a no frill program, based on spirit, mutual respect and constant realistic encouragement through all kinds of situations. All this gives the teachers, the students and even the parents the correct approach to teaching children. In fact, we make use of English in every corner of the campus and at every opportunity. Once this has been experienced, an electrified atmosphere is created and teachers and children move ahead at a greater pace than what is generally the norm. In other words, we kindle a burning flame into teachers wanting to learn themselves and they in turn pass it on to their students. The results are something anyone can be proud of in terms of the children learning to listen, hear, understand, speak and then read at the pre-school, kindergarten or early education levels. Some children as early as four years old even learn how to write in a limited way. Confidence exudes at all levels.

Why should I use this program?
We feel that it is the duty and obligation of everyone who is in education, private or public, to investigate and use the best methods available to teaching children. Results do not lie. Everyone can see them and parents are well aware of this. Schools are entrusted with the education of children and this is a big task. If the teachers have simple, well thought out programs which appeal to a child`s natural desire to learn, then the program has a great chance to succeed. The Viva Campus character building education materials/program is a most effective way to put children on the right track very early in life. Our students develop a deep love for learning, and they are well behaved, polite and full of joy. To them, school is a wonderful pace to learn, have fun and develop social, learning and character skills. The Viva Campus English program appeals to and channels their wonderful bursting energy in the right direction.

Are you saying that other programs are not good?
No. not at all. Every school must find its own way to select the best programs that really work for children. We believe and feel that all children need the correct tools and environment in order to develop good life long habits, a healthy attitude towards people, school and learning. By appealing to and stimulating the child`s insatiable appetite to learn, we do exactly that. That is, we create the environment with our tools and curriculum. Children using our materials love school and have a genuine desire to learn. It`s a happy, respectful and rewarding situation for everybody from the child, to the teacher to the parents. What is better than that?

What if I, as a parent, don`t have a formal education. Can I teach my child as in home schooling or helping at night with my child`s homework?
It`s a proven fact that parents are the best teachers, regardless of education level. It is interesting to note that most parents do not have a formal eduction. We as educators have to acknowledge that and have to realize that we are or should be "surrogate parents" for the child when he or she is in our care. We have to give the child the same love, care, respect and time that a parent would or should do. The child cannot be fooled. He/she knows genuine feelings and sincere people. Our program brings out the best in teachers because it gives then a simple, easy to understand direction, tools and materials. Classes become fun, and children learn best when having fun. There is nothing more rewarding than to see children playing in harmony, exploring all kinds of projects and challeneges, and genuinely loving what he or she is doing, while behaving in an exemplary manner. Character eduction is one of our main strengths.

Do you have to be a licensed teacher to teach this program?
As stated above, no one needs a license to be able to teach our Viva Campus English program. However, if one wishes to teach in a public school then there may be rules and regulations governing this. Private schools usually are not as regulated as public schools, have greater freedom in selecting teachers, and, do not always need credentialed teachers. If some one has the language skills, training and desire to teach, it may be easier to teach in private schools. There are various education entities with this information so it pays to investigate. Check with them first. [Please use the e-mail section below to let us know what you find out. Thanks.

Is there a recommended profile for a teacher to get involved with the Viva Campus English Program?
No, there isn`t. Having said that let`s be frank. A license or credential is a always good thing to have and is oftentimes a requirement in order to teach in the public school system. However, it isn`t a guarantee for success, because it`s not the license or credential that makes a teacher. Rather, it`s the determination, drive, will power, humanity and love for teaching that makes a good teacher. A license is always good to have but little children need love, attention and understanding at all times. Many licensed teachers have these traits and they can make a big difference in the life of a child and we welcome all licensed teachers into our program. It`s a new beginning,. However, many unlicensed teachers have these traits, too, so they have to find out by themselves what their State requirements may be. That is the beauty of the program: either licensed or unlicensed people can do this program providing they have the proper traits and desire. Other requirements may prevail and usually are dependent upon each school and/or regulatory statutes in the area..

Can you summarize in a few sentences why the Viva Campus English program has been so succrss ful?
For the sake of simplification, let just say that our bi-lingual conversation program is based mainly on a natural " Mother Tongue" learning process as well as good old common sense. They are a good one-two punch. Please keep in mind that many great ideas from many great educators and neuro-scientists, can be found throughout the Viva Campus English Program, and some is more by accident than design. No one has a monopoly on ideas and that holds true in all levels of education. It will be interesting to know what theories you may see in the system.

How long will it take to see the results of the Viva Campus English program?
We have found that results begin immediately because the child is carried into a world that he/she can easily understand since all books an materials have been created to speak with the child at his/her level. The materials appeal to a world of verbal challenges, adventures and accomplishments, all important in a child`s development at any age, but especially from 3 to 7 years old.

Will children learn how to read or write with the Viva Campus English program?
In a word, yes and no. Yes, because reading and writing are natural outgrowths of our program. In fact, we have many writing booklets for a child to learn letter, word and sentence formation. But let me emphasize that our main focus is to let the child hear, listen, understand and then speak. Reading and writing will easily follow.

Do children only learn "book knowledge"?
No, on the contrary. The children will learn many things beyond social and communication skills, such as games, creativity, playing, coordination, motor control, numbers, counting, verbal dialogue, along with dancing and singing. The comprehensive Viva Campus English program lends itself to the exciting world of children and assists them in their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development. It`s a high standard of English and has been used in over 300 kindergartens already in Taiwan.
